According to ESPN, the Lakers have offered him a six-year, $70 million contract, which would make him one of the top five paid head coaches in the league. However, the tactical coach has decided to stay close to his family on the Atlantic coast. 

“I am honored by the experience,” the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team said in a statement on their X-team account.

“Ultimately, I am extremely proud of the winning culture that we have built here in Connecticut,”

“We had the chance to meet the whole team before Monday’s training session and now our focus is to do better in the summer that is coming. The connection as a team continues to achieve another championship title.” 

It was a bold decision for the 51-year-old head coach to turn down two ‘purple-gold’ stars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, in order to chase a third straight NCAA championship. The last head coach to do so was UCLA’s John Wooden, who won seven straight between 1967-73.kindee1688
