Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes has confirmed the club are keen to keep Granit Xhaka at the club and the player’s move will only happen if it is mutually beneficial for all parties involved, Sky Germany reported on Friday. 

Xhaka has been linked with Saudi Pro League new boys Neom SC, as well as Italy’s AC Milan and Premier League new boys Sunderland, before Rolfes spoke about the 32-year-old’s move at the club’s training camp in Brazil.  

‘We have big goals for the next few years,’ Rolfes said. ‘That’s why the transfer can only happen if it’s good for everyone. We’ll have to wait and see, but our goal is still Granit to stay with us.’

‘Of course there is interest in him, we have to speak to the player to understand his ambitions, but one thing is clear, the transfer will only happen if the situation is in a way that benefits all parties involved.’
