Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, said that “developing one’s own potential is an important factor in creating quality human resources and is a continuation of the country’s youth development policy through sports. Therefore, it is the origin of the Domestic Power 2024-2025 Sports Promotion Project, which aims to support youth and athletes with potential to gain knowledge and skills in sports, enhance technical capabilities under a strong Thai sports management system covering upstream, midstream, and downstream, aiming to elevate the development of youth to become national athletes, extending from local athletes to the national stage, and pushing them to compete at the international level. Including opportunities to grow into a professional coach, the Domestic Power project is an important mechanism for creating a career path in sports and generating sustainable income.”
Mr. Surawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, said that “The Domestic Power 2024-2025 project to promote sports with full potential is in line with the 20-year national strategy (2018-2037) in the dimension of human capital development through sports to improve the quality of life, enhance well-being, and develop the potential of Thai athletes to achieve international excellence. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Sports Authority of Thailand, the National Sports Development Fund, together with the Sports Association of Thailand, the Provincial Sports Association, and network partners from all sectors have integrated their work under the concept of “systematic and comprehensive sports development”, emphasizing the establishment of a training system, promoting sports science, developing technology, and upgrading standard sports training centers to support athletes with high potential, increasing the competitiveness of Thai national athletes to reach the forefront of Asia, and setting a goal to be number one in ASEAN and ranked among the top in world-class sports competitions.”
The Domestic Power 2024-2025 project not only provides opportunities for youth to access standard sports training, but also serves as an important starting point to inspire and lay the foundation for new-generation athletes to achieve excellence and success in their professional sports careers. The project also opens up opportunities for communities, local administrative organizations, the private sector, and civil society to participate in sustainable sports development under a framework with clear goals, measurable results, and a model for truly elevating sports development at the national level.
In the initial phase of the project, 7 sports were selected: football, futsal, volleyball, badminton, taekwondo, golf, e-sports, and Muay Thai as the pilot sport to drive the project through a strong and tangible Thai sports development system, which is an important mechanism for enhancing the abilities of athletes and is an important force in pushing Thailand to become a regional sports hub, creating pride for all Thais, enhancing the country’s image, and leading Thai sports to success on the world stage in a stable and sustainable manner.(cup1688)
