Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cam Hayward admitted he was disappointed by the loss of 28-year-old safety Minkah Fitzpatrick but welcomed the arrival of 30-year-old cornerback Jalen Ramsey, NFL Network reports. kindee1688

The Steelers gave up Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round draft pick to trade for Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick from the Miami Dolphins. While Hayward was disappointed by the departure of the 28-year-old safety, he’s also excited about Ramsey’s arrival.

“When it came out, I thought we were going to get Jalen for just the draft picks, and I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s great. I love it,'” Hayward said. “And then I found out it was a Minkah trade, and I was like, ‘Holy shit, you’re taking a big guy off our team. ‘ So I was a little disappointed.”

‘But if you look at what Jalen has done, there’s no shortage of talent. Jalen is a defensive back who can play corner, can play slot, can play safety. His all-around ability makes him great on our defense. Every week I watch him, he takes wide receivers out of the game. I loved watching him and DK (Metcalf) go head-to-head a few years ago. It’s good to have both of them on our side of the field now that they can go out and cause chaos on both sides of the ball.’

‘From what I’ve talked to Jalen, Jalen just wants to play football. Jalen wants to have the opportunity to compete at the highest level. We’re going to do everything we can to promote that. We’re going to put him in the right situation.’

‘Sometimes coaches run away from the situation and say, ‘This guy is a real pain in the ass. ‘ It doesn’t matter who’s the pain, we can still win on his own and he can be part of it and be a good contributor. I think sometimes you have to accept what every player gives because that’s what makes a good team. ‘
