T.J. Watt has become the league’s highest-paid player, earning $41 million per year, after the 30-year-old agreed to a three-year, $123 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports. kuiper999

Watt’s new deal with the Steelers will see the 30-year-old earn an average annual salary of $41 million, surpassing Cleveland Browns Myles Garrett, who earns an average of $40 million, as the league’s highest-paid pass rusher and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who earns an average salary of $40.3 million.

The former first-round draft pick in the 2017 class is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, four-time All-Pro selection and 2021 Defensive Player of the Year. He has 108 career sacks, including 22.5 in 2021, and has forced 33 fumbles, 462 combined tackles, including 126 tackles for loss. 

Watt will be a key part of the Steelers defense, along with cornerback Jalen Ramsey, safety Juan Thornhill, rookie defensive tackle Derrick Hermon and cornerback Darius Slay.  ( kuiper999 )
