Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons, 26, says he’s just working on his job and isn’t worried about a new deal that could be finalized in the near future, NFL Network reports. mungmee168
“I just work harder. For me, I think if people don’t see my worth, you don’t cry and sit down. You just work harder. You have to show people your worth. I think that’s the difference. I said, ‘Okay, I’ll bet.’ And I just keep working,” Parsons said.
Parsons has had at least 12 sacks in each of his four seasons in Dallas since entering the league as the 12th overall pick in the 2021 draft class. He’s a Defensive Rookie of the Year, a four-time Pro Bowl selection and a two-time All-Pro, while also combining for 256 tackles and nine fumbles.
The 26-year-old linebacker is among a number of pass rushers looking for new deals, along with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ T.J. Watt and Cincinnati Bengals’ Trey Hendrickson, and Parsons is expected to earn a salary equal to or higher than the $40 million per year Myles Garrett is set to receive from the Cleveland Browns on his new deal.
“I’m just going to figure out my way out, no matter what,” Parsons said. “You know what I’m saying? The market changes every year. Their cap went up about 18 percent this year. So if you want to know about contracts, all of them are percentage-based. Like each player, the higher-paid players, gets a percentage of the cap. So it’s not really a number. It’s cap-based.”
“These numbers don’t concern me, and my numbers don’t concern them,” Parsons said of the rushing market. “Like, I’m younger than Hendrickson, and (Aidan) Hutchinson, coming off an injury, is in Year 3. Usually players wait until Year 4, so it all comes down to Watt. I mean, he’s on the same level as Miles, so you know, it’s different. Everybody’s situation is different.” ( mungmee168 )
