Washington Commanders wide receiver Zach Ertz believes 29-year-old wide receiver Terry McClaurin deserves a new contract with the salary he wants, NFL Network reports. popslot
McClorin previously revealed he was unsure if he would participate in training camp as talks over a new deal have not progressed as hoped as he enters the final year of his contract in 2025.
“I don’t know what happened,” Ertz said. “I don’t know about the conversations, but what day is it? Game one is Sept. 7. There’s still a lot of time between now and then to get things done. But at the end of the day, everyone knows Terry works hard whether he’s on the pitch or not. For me, as a player who’s been through contracts, public contract situations, I’m thankful my teammates didn’t come out and say anything like that. So I’m not going to say that.”
‘But what I do know is that Terry will do everything he can to be at his best when he needs the highest salary. Luckily, it doesn’t have to be at his best tomorrow or at the beginning of next week, but it has to be at the end of the first week of training camp. For me, I’m backing Terry. I hope he gets the salary he needs, but in terms of business, I’m not going to talk about that.’
McClorin is entering the final year of a three-year contract that kicks off in 2022. He is earning an average of $23.2 million per year, the 17th-highest salary among wide receivers in the league. ( popslot )
