The 21st match of the 2020/21 Toyota Thai League season saw BG Pathum United, the Thai League leaders, host True Bangkok United, the 8th-placed team on the scoreboard, at Leo Stadium. 

The game began with the visiting team, Bangkok United, kicking off the game first, with both sides taking turns in possession. BG Pathum United were the first to make a move in the 12th minute, when Santiphap Channgorm collected the ball on the right wing before cutting inside and shooting with his left foot, but the ball went straight to the visiting team’s goalkeeper.

Until the 26th minute, BG Pathum United successfully scored a goal to take a 1-0 lead from a midfield interception by Sarach Yooyen before passing the ball to Sumanya Purisai, who passed the ball to Pathomphon Charoenrattanaphirom, who broke free and flicked the ball with his right foot, beautifully past the True Bangkok United goalkeeper.

In the 31st minute, True Bangkok United had a chance to respond from a shot from Wander Luiz in the penalty area, but Chatchai Butprom was able to deflect the ball over the crossbar. In the following moment from a corner kick, Wander, who had the same shot, curled the ball almost into the goal, but Chatchai was still quick and was able to deflect the ball out behind.

In the 45+3 minute, “The Rabbit” continued to have shooting opportunities. From a move up the left side of the pitch, the visiting defense intercepted the ball and it fell to Jenrop Samphaodi, who took one touch and shot immediately, but Michael Falkesgaard was able to knock the ball out. Before the first half ended, BG Pathum United led True Bangkok United 1-0.

The game resumed in the second half, with the focus still on possession in the middle of the field. 

In the 62nd minute, True Bangkok United were awarded a penalty when Vander Luiz used his individual skills to dribble into the left side of the penalty area before being fouled by Irfan Fandi. However, after a VAR check, the referee decided to cancel the penalty.

However, in the 67th minute, True Bangkok United were able to equalize to 1-1 from a long-range shot by Peerapat Notchaiya, but Nattawut Suksum ran in to head the ball, which deflected off the ball, sending it past Chatchai Butprom into the net. 

In the 80th minute, True Bangkok United had a chance to score when Tristan Do received the ball on the right side before crossing into the penalty area with his left foot. Nattawut Suksum immediately shot, but luckily the ball went straight to Chatchai Butprom, who easily saved it.

In the 90+6 minute, True Bangkok had a chance from a free kick and Heberty Fernandes crossed for Pokklaw Anan to head in front of the penalty area, but the ball was soft enough for Chatchai to comfortably save. In the next moment, BG Pathum had a chance in the final moment of the game from a volley from Jenrop Samphaodi in front of the penalty area, but the ball unfortunately veered wide. After that, the referee blew the whistle to end the match, BG Pathum United and True Bangkok United tied at home 1-1, with each team sharing 1 point.
