Yuma Masaki (4th year), a right-handed pitcher with a maximum speed of 153 km/h and aiming to go pro from Sophia University in the Tohto University League’s Division 3, started in the interchange game against Nihon University in Division 2. He pitched tenaciously, allowing three hits and four runs (one earned) in five innings at a maximum speed of 149 km/h, while striking out five batters. Ten NPB teams, including the Giants and Hanshin Tigers, came to watch behind the net. Lotte Marines scout Sugano praised his potential, saying, “The ball is interesting when it touches your fingers. If you can increase the chances of that happening, you’ll get even better.”

　After the game , the right-hander declared that he is “planning to submit” his application to go pro . “I want to improve the accuracy and sharpness of my fastball and all those aspects before the draft (on October 23rd).” To make his dream come true, he will continue to make his case for the Tohto Division 3 season, which begins on the 2nd of next month.
