Kicker reported on Sunday that RB Leipzig manager Ole Werner could give Arthur Vermeeren another chance, despite the 20-year-old midfielder handing in a transfer request last week after being relegated to the bench. 

RB Leipzig agreed a permanent deal for Vermieren in January, worth €20 million, after the player joined on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024. Despite initially looking promising, the 20-year-old midfielder has found himself on the bench under Werner, who prefers Nicolas Seewald to start ahead of him.

Meanwhile, RB Leipzig are also looking to reduce their squad from 34, with Fermieren not included in Werner’s squad for the season-opening 0-6 defeat to Bayern Munich.

However, RB Leipzig’s poor start to the season could prompt Werner to give Vermeeren another chance after Seewald and Xaver Schlager both underperformed in their opening games.
